Microkoan

2009 / Mexico City

In an age of pandemics and bioterrorism, Guillermo Galindo’s piece microkoan explores our fears and taboos of unknown and unseen life within our own bodies and our surroundings. Posed as a koan, a paradoxical statement or story, used in Zen Buddhism as an aid to meditation, microkoan is a live performance exploring the human body using a live feed from a digital microscope.

4.1 sorround sound becomes a conduit to immerse the listener/viewer into the microscopic.    Both the sound and images mutually control each other during the performance.
